You don’t need upper-body strength, flexibility or any background at all: no dance experience is fine, just a willingness to laugh at your first wobbly spin. Pitched at beginners, the teacher builds the routine around your group on the day.
Harder than it looks, funnier than you think
Pole has a reputation that makes some guests raise an eyebrow, and then they try it. Within ten minutes the whole room realises it’s mostly about grip, balance and nerve, and the eyebrow-raiser is usually the one asking to have another go at the spin. A pole dancing hen party dance class is cheeky rather than crude: the teacher keeps it playful, confident and firmly beginner-level, so it suits a group of friends who want a laugh with a bit of glamour.
Safety comes first. The class takes place in a properly rigged room we hire, with poles fixed and checked, a floor that suits bare feet and enough space between stations. It’s strictly for over-18s. The teacher starts on the floor with walks and body rolls, then moves to simple spins and poses, adding a harder option for anyone who finds they have a natural knack. Nobody is pushed upside down, and there’s no need to be strong or flexible to enjoy it.
For the organiser it’s a tidy answer to the hen party ideas question when the bride wants something a little daring without anything she’d regret. It fits groups who share poles in turns, so there’s always someone cheering from the side, and the photos are brilliant. Of all the hen party activities on offer around the Black Country, it’s one people genuinely surprise themselves at.
Pole classes run only in a properly rigged room we hire near Dudley town centre, as the poles need secure fixing and a safe floor. You’ll see tuition and the room’s charge side by side on one written figure.

yoursWhy ninety suits pole: the group shares the poles in turns, so the extra half hour means everyone gets proper time on the pole to land a spin, rather than one quick go each before the finale.
Spins, poses and showcase time on the poles for everyone booked, and the rigged room’s venue fee sits on that same quote.
Spin-worthy ideas for your five
Treat these as ideas for a pole-friendly list, nothing more. When you enquire, give us the five tracks your hens would most like to spin to, ranked from first choice to fifth, and your instructor goes with one of them well before the class so the walks and spins are prepared to it. The bride’s guilty-pleasure anthem is very welcome at number one.
How songs work: once you’ve booked, send us your top five songs in order of preference, and your instructor picks one from your list before the class.

cheekyWhere pole fits a Dudley hen day
An early-afternoon session leaves plenty of time to shower, change and head out, whether that’s dinner near the Waterfront at Merry Hill or the train into Birmingham for a later night. Shorts and a vest top work best, because bare skin grips the pole; please skip body lotion on the day. Outfits come from your own wardrobes, and heels are optional rather than expected.
Travelling in from Stourbridge, Coseley, Sedgley or further? Say so in your message and we’ll work out a start that lets the far-flung guests arrive unhurried. A dance hen party on the poles works well for small to mid-sized groups sharing in turns, and the hen do dance class fee is one flat figure however many of you are booked.
Verdicts from the pole
I booked it thinking half the group would refuse to try. By the end even the quiet cousin had nailed a spin and was demanding a video of it. The teacher was calm, funny and brilliant at spotting.
Much harder than it looks, and I have the bruised shins to prove it, but I haven’t laughed that much in years. The room was spotless and the poles felt rock solid.
Our group ranged from twenty-one to fifty-four and nobody felt out of place. Having the room and the class on one quote made my job very easy.
Do we need strong arms to try beginner pole?
No. The first half of the class barely uses the arms at all, and the beginner spins rely more on momentum and grip than strength. Anyone who wants a stronger challenge will be offered one.
Why is the pole hen class only for over-18s?
It’s an adult-themed session with a cheeky edge, so we keep it strictly to over-18s. If younger family members are part of the hen, a different theme might suit the whole group better.
What should we wear so we can grip the pole?
Shorts and a fitted vest or sports top, with bare legs and arms, give the best grip. Avoid moisturiser or fake tan on the day, take off rings and bracelets, and bring a bottle of water.
How is a pole class for a Dudley hen priced?
You pay one group fee plus the venue: that’s £190 for ninety minutes, which gives everyone decent time on a pole, or £165 for sixty, again with the rigged room’s venue charge added. It’s confirmed on a single written quote, never charged person by person.
Can the pole teacher come to our holiday let or hotel?
Not for this theme. Poles need secure rigging and a safe floor, so the class runs in a properly rigged room we hire near Dudley town centre, booked for your date.
How many hens can share each pole during the class?
It depends on the room and your numbers, and we’ll talk it through when we call. Sharing in turns is part of the fun, since the rest of the group gets to cheer each spin.
